Names of the Holy Quran

There are many verses and hadiths from the infallible Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, that indicate the virtue of the Qur’an in general, and hadiths about the virtue of some of its surahs and verses. If a person wanted to connect with the Quran to limit the virtue of the Noble Qur’an and explain the generality of its blessings and goodness, his pen would stop at this matter and he would not be able to encompass it. So religious scholars found ways to give Quranic lessons for reverts. What indicates the greatness of the Noble Qur’an and the high status of it is the abundance of its names, just as the abundance of names indicates the honor of the one named by it. Among its names are:

1. The Quran: This is its famous name, indicating its greatness and status. Allah the Almighty said: (Indeed, it is a noble Quran) [Surat Al-Waqi’ah: Verse 77].
2. Al-Furqan: One of its surahs was named with this name. Allah the Almighty said at the beginning of it: (Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant that he may be to the worlds a warner) [Surat Al-Furqan: Verse 1].
3. The Book: Allah the Almighty said: (This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah) [Surat Al-Baqarah: Verse 2].
4. Remembrance: Allah the Almighty said: (Indeed, it is We who sent down the Reminder and indeed, We will be its guardian.) [Surat Al-Hijr: verse 9].
5. Revelation: Allah the Almighty said: (And indeed, it is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.) [Surat Ash-Shu’ara: verse 192].
6. The Word of Allah: As Allah the Almighty said: (And if any of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the Word of Allah.) [Surat At-Tawbah: verse 6].
