The prayer of Istikharah:
It is so important for any Muslim when he is confused to do something or not so, he prays this prayer to ask Allah for guidance till Allah guides him to the best choice. This prayer called Istikharah in which the Muslim prays Allah for guidance to the good in his favor and for the satisfaction of Allah. This prayer is two Rak’aa.
Istikharah prayer is two Rak’aa and it is another prayer out of Fard Prayers. It is performed as any other prayer but it is recommended to recite Surat al Kaferoon after Fatiha in the first Rak’aa and recite Suart al Ikhlas after al Fatiha in the second Rak’aa.
Dua of Istikharah:
Our prophet recommends it to us, he said, “If one of you is concerned about some practical undertaking, or about making plans for a journey, he should perform two cycles (rak’atain) of voluntary prayer.” Then with all sincerity recite the following Du’a.
“O Allah, I seek Your counsel by Your knowledge and I seek Your assistance by Your power and I ask You from Your immense favor, for verily You are able while I am not, and verily You know while I do not, and You are the knower of the Unseen. O Allah, if You know this affair ( mention affair here ) to be good for me in relation to my religion, my life and aftermath, my present and future, then decree it and facilitate it for me, and bless me with it, and if You know this affair to be ill for me concerning my religion, my life and end, my present and future, then remove it from me and remove me from it, and decree for me what is good, whatever it may be, and make me satisfied with it.
There are two opinions on when to say Dua some says before Tasleem and others say after Tasleem. And after is the best and the most agreed.
When to pray Istikharah:
You can pray this prayer any time you want, but avoid the times we should not pray at that are after dawn to sunrise, after Asr to Maghrib, before Zuhr by 15 minutes. Many opinions recommend praying it at night before going to sleep.
Conditions of Istikharah prayer:
To pray it to ask Allah for guidance in the things the Muslim does not know if it is good or not, not acceptable to prat it for things is obligatory to do or prevented from doing.
Its conditions are like any other prayer conditions like Wudu’ and covering.
Women in period cannot pray it as any other prayer.
Two completed rak’aa, reciting, ruku’ and sujud.
The importance and benefits of Istikhara prayer:
Strengthen the relation between the Muslim and Allah.
This prayer helps the Muslim to ask Allah in anything he wants to do so, it enhances the connection between the Muslim and Allah.
When the Muslim asks Allah for guidance in something he wants, he will be sure that Allah will choose the best for him so, if this thing comes true, he will know that is the best for him and he will be satisfied. also, if this thing does not come true, he will be satisfied because he knows that Allah will choose the best for him and He does not want any bad for the good Muslim.
Consultation of Allah.
We all get confused for many things in our lives so we usually consult our friends or anyone we think that he will tell us what should we do so, as Muslims it is so interesting and it is so comfortable to consult Allah, the creator like the best friend. Who is better than Allah in consultation? No one of course.
The answer or the result of Istikhara:
Many people think that the only answer of that prayer is to have a dream about this thing and if that dream was good so, this thing it is good and you can keep going and if the dream seems bad or not feeling any good about so, you should stop thinking about it and avoid it.
But the surprise is not only dreams can be an answer of that prayer maybe yes there are dreams but it is not necessary for an answer for example, if someone prayed and he had no dreams so, what about him, the answer is about the thing itself if you feel after praying that this is good for you and all the measurements and procedures and all that come easily, it means that it is good for you And if you do not feel better about it and you feel like it will be loss or it will be not good for you and many problems and obstacles have become so, you should avoid it.
These are the signs of that prayer.
Finally, Istikhara prayer is so important for any Muslim and it is so recommended by our Prophet Mohammed to ask Allah for guidance in anything and to consult Him, our creator, to know what good for us and what is not. So, we should take this prayer in our daily life to feel satisfied and comfortable about many things whatever the answer is yes or no but be sure that this answer is by Allah Himself.
