Grand Imam Of Al-Azhar speech to the occasion of prophet (PBUH) birth.

Speech to the Occasion of Prophet Birth

The Grand Imam, Dr Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh (president) of Al-Azhar, made a statement on (the Mawlid Al Nabawi) occasion the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday.

in the name of Allah the most gracious the most merciful. All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the ‘Alamin (humankind, jinns and all that exists), may prayers and peace be upon our prophet, Muhammad, his family and all of his companions.

Mr President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the president of the Arab Republic of Egypt, May Allah protect him. Asslamu Aaikum Wrahmatullahi Wa Brakatuh.

And yet, despite the passing of one thousand four hundred and forty-nine years since the birth of the last prophet, Muhammed peace be upon him. humanity is still looking forward to this divine radiance, which radiated around the Sacred House in Makkah, whenever it stumbled,  or its night grew darker and lost its guide in the darkness of materialism and defile desires and the arrogance of power.

The message of this noble prophet would not have been the inspiration for civilizations of all kinds of orientations had it not been for this marvellous dimension that distinguished it. I mean by the dimension of “High human ethics”, which crosses the boundaries of time and space, individuals and groups.

A dimension recognized and admired by many, even the fair historians of the West, _who have been fortunate to have the integrity, and a vigilant conscience in understanding the meanings of the Quran, and the eloquence of the honourable Sunnis, and put their hands on the principle of “Universal Human Brethren”, which penetrates in the folds of this immortal message: sharia, doctrine and morality.

Even one of them said: “Muhammad ﷺ  peace be upon him Prophet of the Arabs is one of the biggest lovers of goodness for humanity, his appearance to the whole world is the impact of the will of the supreme, and the continent of Asia should be proud of this great man »().

Even the British Encyclopedia said: «Muhammad strived for the sake of all humanity» and the most beautiful is what Muhammad said this great teacher: « All creation is dependents of Allah, and under his care, and the most beloved creation to Allah who takes care of his dependents» ().

The follower of his fragrant biography does not need much trouble to join hands in this kinship, and this blood relationship that is connected in the philosophy of this religion, among the creation of all Allah all: their believer and their unbeliever, their good and their badness. Here is the Sunnah references tells us that he peace is upon him was saying after every prayer:

«O Allah, our Lord and Lord of everything, I bear witness that Thou art the Lord alone Who hast no partner».

«O Allah, Our Lord and Lord of everything, I bear witness that Muhammad is Thy servant and Thy apostle».

«O Allah, our Lord and Lord of everything, I bear witness that all the servants are brethren».

Therefore, it is three testimonies: a testimony of divinity, prophecy, and human brotherhood. It is itself a testimony that if Islam is the religion of monotheism, it is as well as the religion of all humanity and equality among people. In addition, it is the religion of the infallibility of blood, money and symptoms, and other moral purposes were summarized in the farewell sermon, in which he addressed the whole of humanity, represented by a crowd of 100,000 Muslims and more.

It had been available to this sermon, features like the accuracy of documentation and history in terms of the number of Muslims and in terms of time, place, words and names of the informants, that were not made available to else.

This sermon was on the ninth Friday of Dhu al-Hijjah of the tenth year of migration, after the prophet came to Arafa, a tent of hair was pitched for him at a place named “Namira”. He rested until the sun went down, he commanded that al-Qaswa should be brought and saddled for him. Then he came to the bottom of the valley, and addressed the crowded people which was like gathering waves! That the history did not record that anyone before Muhammad peace is upon him, such a crowd was gathered around him to the address.

It was what the Prophet ﷺ said on this day.

“O, People! Lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore, listen carefully to what I am saying and Take These Words to Those Who Could Not Be Present Here Today.

O, People! Just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord and that he will indeed reckon your deeds. O Allah, Be my witness, that I have conveyed your message to your people”.

Learn that Hearts do not fill with hatred or rancour.
“O people, your Lord is one and your father Adam is one. There is no favour of an Arab over a foreigner, nor a foreigner over an Arab and neither white skin over black skin nor black skin over white skin, except by righteousness. Have I not delivered the message? O Allah, Be my witness.

“O, people! Lend me an attentive ear, do not oppress, do not oppress, do not oppress!

May I tell you who is Muslim, The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the people are safe, and the believer is the one from whom the people’s lives and wealth are safe, the Muhajir (Emigrant) is the one who refrains from sins and mistakes. And The Mujahid is one who strives against his soul to obey Allah.

Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.

Have I not delivered the message? O Allah, Be my witness”.

At last sermon, he did not forget the base of the family, he shouts out to the Muslims “Fear Allah regarding women”

The first thing that the meditator reads about this historic sermon is that it was not only directed at Muslims, but it was also directed at all people, wherever their places are, and whenever they are.

His favourite phrase in catching minds and eyes was “O people”, not “O Muslims” or “O believers.”

He started his sermon with what he felt his mortality and what he said was happened, he never met that crowd again, Only three months he lives after this occasion then he joined our Lord in Heaven.

The first item of this sermon was a warning to the whole world of the chaos of blood and tampering with money and symptoms.

He has repeated this warning of these heinous crimes twice in this sermon, and it is no wonder that they are primary rights or inviolable rights for both men and society.

It is impossible for a society seeking stability to stand on their own feet unless it is based on these three sanctities: the sanctity of blood, the inviolability of private individual property, the inviolability of the family, the offer and the honour.

We do not need to be reminded – with pain and disappointment squeeze hearts heavily – that the nation of this immortal constitution is the first to go out, underestimate its inviolability, and disregarded. The penalty for rebellion against these teachings was that the nation was thrown with its blood, money and families in a state of chaos and humiliation until their enmity among themselves grows very great. Then the blood, money and symptom end by saying: “O Allah, I have delivered (the message)”.

He raises his honourable finger to heaven as if Allah was witnessing to us on these three sanctities, but as if he was referring, from behind the unseen world, to the emergence of a group of villains of his nation took lives, symptoms and money. Satan made people deeds, ignorance, the blindness of vision and deviation of instinct pleasing to them and their evil deeds have been embellished to them.

They began killing, slaughtering, detonation, vandalism and aggravated assault. Rather, they took the sparing women and girls and took them as captives, as well as slaves that forced them into obscenity, vice and dirt.

Then the Prophet said “Learn that Hearts do not fill with hatred or rancour”, to guide his nation and other nations to the necessity of the solidarity and cooperation in each society. And if the societies replace these principles with other ones such as “conflict”, fragmentation or bullying and destruction of property of others, it is inevitable to decay and then fall.

We have seen in our generation how major civilizations took the «conflict» as a pillar for its renaissance in the economy, social and political, It did not reach the age of seventy until it was just words on paper! Similarly, civilizations that today are praising by the same principles will inevitably receive the same fate sooner or later.

Then he warned of injustice, and repeated the warning in his sermon three times, because of its destructive impact on individuals, states and communities, and the Quran warned of it in one hundred and ninety verses, as the Prophet peace is upon him warned of it in seventy hadith of his holy Sunnah. Then he warned of the phenomenon of the vendetta (blood feud), the pests of (Riba) usury, and the tampering of time and cycles of months and arrangement.

Then he concluded his historic sermon by saying: “I leave behind me two things, the Qur’an and my example, the Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray”

Then he said: “What are you going to do?”. They said we are witnessing that you have conveyed (your message), deliver up and advised. He said: «O Allah, Be my witness ».

Mr President! Holy ceremony! For more than a thousand years, Al-Azhar has been guarding the two origins that the Messenger of Allah left us: in defence of the nation’s culture and unity, and in defence of the nation and its history. Al-Azhar is in the process of drafting a cultural mapping to renew religious discourse and rationalize cultural awareness. To stand besides all the institutions that make the most important of its goals to protect this country from the intellectual and physical terrorism, and to resist all currents of hyperbole and corruption, with an Islamic approach that makes the purposes of the Sharia to protect religion, self, money and the honor, to protect every human being, before protecting religions.

Al-Azhar has full confidence in Allah that we will overcome all challenges.
Al-Azhar also trusts the wisdom and determination of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi In preserving the homeland and advancing it amid a choppy world, turbulent goals and objectives, troubled by goals and objectives.

On this honourable occasion, I extend to you, Mr President, the Egyptian people, and the two nations: the Arab and Islamic nations, and all of you, my best wishes of congratulations on the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (the Mawlid Al Nabawi) peace be upon him.

Wassalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmat Allah Wabarakatu (Peace be upon you and the mercy and blessings of Allah)

Ahmed Tayeb Sheikh Azhar
