Duaa for Corona Pandemic
Islam being a complete way of life, does not leave us stranded at the time of crisis or a pandemic; instead, it shows us how to deal, act, react and pray. Since the coronavirus is spreading across all over the world, people have been coming up with interesting observations and suggestions. Many foul things are on social media; making their videos viral come up with remedies for the coronavirus. Some charlatans offering concoctions of medicines do the trick. But some useful suggestions are also there.
It is time to seek the forgiveness of Allah for all our sins. “Muslims must pray to Allah to seek forgiveness. Ask for his blessings to overcome the threat posed by a coronavirus. Without ‘dua’ I don’t think the virus would go away so easily.
Let us not forget that virus is also a creation of Allah. He may use it against anyone as per his will. It can be a trial for the patient believers or a punishment for the transgressors.
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: “The Messenger of Allah, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, “When Allah completed the creation, he wrote in his book with him upon the throne: Verily, my mercy prevails over my wrath.”
First Duaa
It is most rated nowadays. This Dua was narrated by Anas ibn Malik.
Transliteraion: Allahumma inni
Translation: “O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from leprosy, insanity, elephantiasis, and evil diseases.” (Sunan Abi Dawud155
Here is the backline story-
One day the Prophet (ﷺ) entered the mosque. He saw there a man called Abu Umamah.
Prophet (ﷺ) said: What is the matter that I am seeing you sitting in the mosque when there is no time of prayer?
He said: I am entangled in cares and debts, Prophet (ﷺ).
Prophet (ﷺ) replied: Shall I not teach you words by which, when you say them, Allah will remove your care, and settle your debt?
He said: Why not, Messenger of Allah?
Prophet (ﷺ) said: Say in the morning and evening: O Allah, I seek refuge in you from care and grief, I seek refuge in you from incapacity and slackness, I seek refuge in you from cowardice and niggardliness, and I seek in you from being overcome by debt and being put in subjection by men.
He said: When I did that Allah removed my care and settled my debt.
Second Duaa
Transliteration: Bismillah, al
Translation: “In the Name of Allah with Whose Name there is protection against every kind of harm in the earth or in heaven, and He is the All-Hearing and All-Knowing. (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3388).”
Recite this Dua three times- in the morning, evening, and at night.
And remember, all acclaim has a place with Allah. None has the option to be revered but Allah, alone, without an accomplice. ‘To Allah has a place the Dominion, and to Allah is the acclaim, and Allah is prepared to do all things.
I look for asylum in You, I look for shelter in You from lethargy and vulnerable mature age. What’s more, I look for asylum in You from the punishment of the Fire and the punishment of the grave. And all applause has a place with Allah.
Third Duaa
Abu Hurairah narrated this one-
Transliteration: Al-ḥamdulilla
Translation: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever sees an afflicted person then says: ‘All praise is due to Allah who saved me from that which He has afflicted you with, and blessed me greatly over many of those whom He has created.’ he shall not be struck by that affliction.” (Jami`at-Tirmidhi 3432)
All praise is because of Allah who saved me from that which He has bothered you with. And blessed me significantly over a lot of the ones whom He has created, he shall not be struck by that affliction.
Fourth Duaa
Transliteration: allahumma aafi
Translation: “O Allah, make me healthy in my body. O Allah, make me healthy in my hearing. O Allah, make me healthy in my sight. There is no god but You.’ (Sunan Abi Dawud 5090)
It is relatable to Dua 2. Here is the backline story-
Abdur Rahman ibn Abu Bakrah st

DUA 5
Transliteration: Allahumma inn
Translation: “O Allah, I seek refuge in you from the withdrawal of your blessing and the change of your protection (from me) and from your sudden wrath, and from every displeasure of yours.” (Sahih Muslim 2739)
This one is good for Ramadan:
Abdullah b. ‘Amr said: The Prophet (ﷺ) said to me: I have been informed that you stand for prayer the whole of the night and fast during the day. I said: I do that, whereupon he said: If you did that you in fact strained heavily your eyes and made yourself weak. There is a right of your eyes (upon you) and a right of yourself (upon you) and a right of your family (upon you). Stand for prayer and sleep. Observe fasts and break (them).

Is only Dua is enough for Coronavirus??
Some people are saying that coronavirus in China is divine punishment. It’s for the atrocities committed against Uighur Muslims. We do not know all the facts and we are not aware of the wisdom of Allah!
Alhamdulillah! Allah has taught us how to deal with this kind of situation through his divine book and his Messenger (ﷺ). Many hundred years before the advancement of modern sciences, Islam talks about the importance of cleanliness, personal hygiene, consuming Halal food, quarantine, etc which are quintessential to the prevention and spread of endemic diseases.
SubhanAllah! Only if we Muslims become responsible and showcase these teachings of Islam with wisdom, many people will be automatically attracted to Islam.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place.” (Sahih Al BukhariHadit
Let us pray for the fast recovery of the people infected and the swift control of the virus.
We hope that these duas for protection have brought you some comfort and hope in these dark times, Insha’Allah. Remember to keep praying and trusting the Almighty through it all.
The Prophet (ﷺ) also taught us to “Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.” (Tirmidhi). As Muslims, we need to be aware of the needs of others. We must show Compassion and Charity to the needy people in our neighborhood.
So, when the supplication comes, release it, make it,
What are you waiting for?
coz you don’t know when ALLAH is gonna accept it. Almighty hears everything, we just need to wait. It’s important for us to choose the moment when it’s blessed.
